Students began brainstorming different themes for their project. To begin we practiced coming up with different words and things that went along with Sponge Bob. Once the students had the idea, they were sent to fill out their worksheet. Ms. S made sure to look over all of their words to make sure everything was spelled correctly before moving to their final copy.
Starting the Final
Student began my creating their 3D centerpiece first. The students selected an image that depicted their overall theme of their project. The students were instructed that their image needed to touch all four sides of the paper in order to ensure that the image was large enough. Next, the students outlined their image in sharpie and began using color. The students were required to add value and color mixing as their colored pencil techniques.
Introduction into Fonts
Before the students started their fonts, they broke up the image into sections for each of the words that the students brainstormed. Once the students created each section, they added in the their words. To help them come up with different fonts, the students used the website 1001fonts.com. This is a great site because you can type in the word and see it in all different fonts to help with your choice selection.
Outlining and Adding Color
Once everything was sketched in with a pencil, the student outlined their images with Sharpie markers and added color using colored pencils. The students were required to use color mixing and value in their project.
