The 6th grade students first began their project by learning about value and form. The students learned that different drawing pencils created a range of tones of light and dark shading. The students first began practicing this new concept by creating a value scale and adding shading to their worksheet using their drawing pencils, torillions and kneaded erasers.
The students then learned how to recreate a picture by using a grid technique. The students used this drawing technique to accurately draw out a self-portrait. Once the portrait was complete, the students added value to create highlights and shadows within their portraits. Lastly, the students added images of their future in their sunglasses whether it was their near future such as plans for this summer or their distant future depicting what career they would like to pursue when they are older. |
